Stevie Ray Vaughn

Again, What can I say that hasnt already been said about the man.
He was taken before his time, but his music, sound and attitude live on through his music.

You could probably sum SRV up in one word, Tone!  The man had the most amazing tone I have ever heard.  I remember talking to a customer at the guitar store I worked at.  He said he wanted SRV's sound.  I told him buy a Tone Master, get some Texas specials in his guitar and learn to play with 13 guage strings.  The customer didnt belive me, he thought that there was some pedal out there that would magically give him SRV's tone.

I think that was the most amazing thing about Stevie, he didnt use any processing or a ton of stomp boxes, it was his amp guitar and him.  I dont think his sound will ever be copied perfectly!

"It did not take long for Stevie Ray Vaughan the man to be replaced in
the public eye by Stevie Ray Vaughan, the legend. Dying tragically at the
age of thirty-five made him an immediate object of worship in the great
rock-and-roll tradition. Dying under such tragic circumstances after
overcoming his own personal battles with the demons of booze and
drugs elevated him to something just short of sainthood."
